RACE IN HUTT VALLEY

The Hutt Valley Cycling Club held a 25 miles handicap on Saturday afternoon from the/Petone Rowing Club's building, along the Main Hutt Road, to Quin's Post, and back. ' The scratch division comprised Uoe, Morris, Button, King* and Biggs, who conceded starts up to 12 minutes to Triplow, Cook, Keighley, and Arnold.. - ... ■ The limit men worked hard and maintained a good enough speed to keep away the rest of the field. Triplow retired with cramp, and left his co-markers to fight out a good sprint for the line, which resulted in a win for Arnold, who was followed closely by Cook and Keighley. L. Roberts and Stevens (3 mm) rode a good race and were.only beaten for fastest time honours by 40sec, which was excellent, considering a team of five was on the scratch mark. -, . Roe won the sprint among the scratch men, narrowly defeating Morris and Dutton.in that order.
