CLOUDY AND OVERCAST
RAIN IN MOST DISTRICTS
The weather forecast issued at noon today is for moderate to strong west to south-west winds. The weather will t>e cloudy and overcast, with rain in most districts, but more especially those with a westerly aspect and in the high country; Temperatures will become cooler, with snow on some high ranges. For the most part the weather was fair, mild,' and pleasant during the weekend, but some scattered rain fell in westerly districts, more especially in the South Island. During Sunday, however, a westerly depression moved on to the Dominion, and by this morning had passed to the cast side; consequently, strong westerly winds blow yesterday, and sinco last night conditions have become unsettled, with fairly widespread rain. By. this morning a' moderate southerly change had taken place up as far, as e Cook StraiE, but strong westerly winds : were still blowing over most of the North Island.
The weather was mostly fine at Auckland, during the weekend, a light southwest wind prevailing. It clouded over yosterday afternoon, but since last night, showery conditions have prevail-, cd, the wind freshening from the west.
Saturday was ,a beautifully . sunny day in Wellington. It was calm in tho morning, aud'a, very liglit. northerly prevailed-in ~tho, afternoon. The wind freshened during Saturday night, and yesterday it was strong throughout the day. The; weather, \though cloudy at times, was mild and pleasant. There was a. trace of raiu in tho early hours of this morning, three points falling.at Lower Hutt at the same time. At 9 a.m. today a light southerly, wind was. blowing, and the.sky was overcast.
Ohristehurch bad a fine, mild weekend. A light easterly wind prevailed on Saturday, and,a westerly yesterday. The latter, freshened in the afternoon, and it had become boisterous by the evening. . Some light rain fell after 6 p.m. At 9 a.m. today drizzling rain was falling, with a light west-south-west wind. The rainfall was three points. ' .At Dunedin it was calm, mild, and sunny on Saturday. On Sunday it was mild and pleasant, though -dull; but since last night light rain has fallen there, with'a. light south-west wind.
