STOCK SALES

STRONG SHEEP MARKET

Dalgety and Company, Limited, report on the Feilding sale held on Friday:— There was a medium yarding of fat lambs -and a heavier yarding of fat sheep. For the concluding fat lamb saleof the season, the. sale was a good one for any finished lots, and prices showed little change. Good quality fat ewes were in strong ueiiiand and sold up, to 25s 6d. The store sheep entry was a fairly large one, and competition was good and any reliable ewes sold at satistactory prices. Hoggets were pouned in smaller numbers, and here again there was a good demand for anything healthy, and we considered there was little change in the store sheep prices all through. There was a slightly heavier yarding of beef forward, but rio outstanding lines of bullocks were penned. Competition was not quite as strong, aud the market showed a Slight casjng on' last sale. We sold on account of Easton Estate, Foxton, about 30 Polled Angus cows from £4 to £4 16s. A fair entry of run cattle was forward, and prices remained unchanged. There was' a heavy yarding of dairy cattle, which met a dragging market. Dairy, heifers showed a considerable decline, and dairy cows towards the close of the sale were difficult to quit. ■

Breeding ewes were agaiu yarded in fair numbers, the quality on the whole not being of a high standard, and this along with weather conditions.had a tendency to ease the market! A light yarding of fat cattle came forward iv this section, values holding their, own. Cows and heafers. of all deserpitions, of which a large yarding came forward, met a dull market. ■ -
