ARTS BALL ON FRIDAY
All that organisation can do has been arranged tor to ensure that, "the"'"Arts Ball" to be held in the Town Hall on Friday ,wfll be an outstanding success among the many fine evenings provided by. the Wellington Plunket Society. All that is needed to bring the promise to fruition is the co-operation of the public—a matter of small effort and no great, expense, for the admission charges are low and fancy dress need not. be costly to .be effective. The problem of what to weapon such, an occasion causes much puzzlement, 'but there is no need for this because; a supply o£ suitable "extras" will be available at the haH and those-who arrive staid and correct ju attire may be, prepared for the temptation to break into gay .colours and informality. , .. • . ■
The scene of the ball will be the Bohemian artists' quarter o£ Paris—not perhaps as it exists, but as we would like it to be—and to. carry"the illusion as far as possible, the supper will He quite "Montmartrian."
A feature of the ..evening will be a magnificent ballet, designed and produced by Miss Kathleen- O'Brien with three groups of Wellington's prettiest girls. The. ballet is described as a very beautiful thing, woven into and around the famous "Rhapsody in Blue" of Gershwin.
The ball should make a thoroughly .popular appeal, and a very large attendance can be expected. ■.
