SKATE-HOCKEY
the Wellington Skate-Hockey Association is to hold a knock-out competition tomorrow evening. Ten teams entered for this event, which was limited to eight. An eliminating contest between the three lowest teams—Orientals, Electrix, and Empire (Petone)—resulted in Empire defeating Electrix; the former later meeting Orientals, who won the right to enter the competition. The competing teams are: Swifts, Comets, Diamonds, Rovers, Tigers,. Royal Rollers, Petone, and Orientals. The competition is to be decided in four heats, two semi-finals, and a final, and- the draw is.as follows:—lst round: Swifts v. Orientals; 2nd round: Petone v. Tigers; 3rd round; Royal Rollers v. Diamonds; 4th round: Comets v. Rovers. The-victors in the first and1 second matches will meet in the first semi-final, and the winners o£ the third and fourth contests in the second semi-final, the winners of the two semi-finals later meeting in the final. The Wellington selectors, will select Possibles v. Probables teams, with a view to the selection of a representative team to travel to Auckland for the fourth annual contest at the end of July. Keen interest is being taken in the hockey contests this season, and the form which is being displayed by the various players has now reached a high standard.
