Tho weather outlook for the next few days is not very promising" according to the forecast issued at noon, today. Winds will be moderate to' freshening northerlies or north-wester-lies, and later gale force -will be reached in places south of New Plymouth and Napier. The weather 'is likely to be unsettled, with rain at first in districts with a westerly aspect and in tho far south. During the next co.uple of days, however, rain is likely to become general. .Temperatures will be mild.

A-slight anticyclone.. is passing to the north of Now Zealand, put barometers aro failing slowly in tho south under the influence of a deep depression which is advancing over tho southern part, of tho Tasniau Sea: Tho weather yesterday was for. tho most part fair, although there was a considerable amount of cloud and in places mist or fog. In. Wcstland and in the far south a few light and scattered showers fell, and at 9 a.m. today showers were alsp falling in the Bay of Plenty area. Winds have been light and rather variable, but by this morning their direction was mainly northerly.

Auckland's weather yesterday was fair but cloudy, and the.' night was foggy. At 9 a.ni. today a very light north-easterly wind was blowing, the weather being cloudy. ■'•'•■-".

Yesterday morning in Wellington was dull and miaty with a few light showers. It was calm until 11 a.m., when a light northerly sprang-' up. In tho afternoon the wind freshened a little and the weather, although still cloudy, became somewhat brighter. Two points of rain were recorded at Kelbuni and three in Lower Hutt. The weather this morning was overcast with a light northerly wind. Clmstchurch had a dull day with a trace of rain in tho morning. It drizzled at times last night, and the weather this morning was still flull ond 'misty.
