CITRUS FRUIT EMBARGO
(From "The Post's" Representative.) NELSON, July 10. The monthly meeting of the Nelson Farmers' Union-discussed the question of the embargo on Australian citrus fruit and passed a'resolution, protesting against its proposed removal. The resolution is to be forwarded to the Government. .
• Results in a .fourball bogey match played by the Nelson-Ladies' Golf Club on the Tahunanui links today were as follows:—Miss Tui-toh and Miss Fell, 4 up; Mrs. Campbell-Smith and Miss Clarke, 2 up; Mrs.* Cock and Mrs. Dodson, 1 up; Miss Harkness and Mrs. Topliss, 1 up; Mrs. Milner and Miss Betts, 1 up. yhe finaL of the Carey Cup was played between >Miss Botts and Mrs. DodsdnJ Miss Betts -winning 5 and 4. The'finaJ-for the Mabin Cup (handicap match-;,play foursomes) -was won by Mrs. McMorland. and Mrs. "Wiggins from Mrs. Green, and Miss Young, 1 up. .
Next Saturday three Nelson representative hockey teams will visit Blen-' heim to play matches against Marlborough. The teams are as follows:— Senior: R. Gilbert, T. O'Callaghan (captain), P. .'ln an endeavour to add interest to the game, of Rugby in the primary schools of the Secldon Shield area, the tfejson Rugby Union has well in hand the organisation of a tournament to be held for the first time in Nelson this year. The school winning the interstihool competition in the five unions concerned will take part in the tournament, for which a grant of £40 has been received from the New Zealand Union. The headmasters of the Nelson schools are giving the project their hearty;support and. the billeting of the visitors is- now being arranged. It is intended, tci hold the fixture in each centre :in turn. ' ' '
