SNIPE IN1 LONDON

The unexpected presence in London of some shy birds is revealed:in a bulletin dssned by. the EoyaLßotanie Gardens, Kew. A short time.. ago. a. ssriipe was observed, at the -soatheni end of the Gardens. : As far aa can be,-ascer-tained, this is the first record of the presence of a snipe at Kew. About the same time a. -woodcock, one of the most elusive of birds, was seen on several occasions. Kingfishers are observed fairly regularly, both near the islands on the lake, and, more rarely, near the pond and water garden. Another interesting bird recently in the Gardens was a silvery-white hen blaelcbird;-which could be seen, any day in the grounds of the Queen's Cottage.
