A CASTLE TO GO

Abbotstmry Castle, a familiar land-' mark on the Dorset coast, is shortly to disappear, having been purchased by a marine engineer and dealer in old metal. The new owner stated, that he was particularly interested in the considerable amount of lead which is in the roof. Tho castle, which was part of the Earl of Ilehester's estate, has been in the market for some time past. The Abbotsbury Castlo of former days, which was used as a shooting box by the present' earls-father, was burned to the ground in 1913' in tho course of a great storm. One wing, which has a subterranean passage connecting it with the main building, was saved. The castle was rebuilt after the war at a cost,-it is stated, of about £-50,000, but it has never been occupied.
