Many Australians who admire the work of the artist Prank Payne are not aware of the fact that "he" is a woman, states an exchange. A native of Brisbane, her real name is Mrs. A. P. Clinton, and she is .the mother, of two sons.'.' The book will be written entirely by Victorian women, and well-known writers both at home and abroad will be invited to . contribute, articles, verses, or stories to its pages. "•; Wellington W.C.T.XJ. The Wellington branch of' the "Women's Christian Temperance Union met recently, Mrs. Murray presiding and conducting a helpful devotional service. The-resignation of Mrs. "Webb as secretary was accepted, as, she has left "Wellington. Mrs. Boss was elected secretary and Mrs. Porte treasurer for the remainder of the year. A new member was initiated. Next meeting will be a social one. Mrs. Spencer, formerly of the South East London Mission, gave a bright ' address on "Unknown Roads," referring to -the changes that await us in, our. journey through life. We needed more sunshine within, she said, and then, we would give out more cheer and smiles to others. Tea was sewed, and the meeting closed with the pronouncement of the benediction. . :
