SHIP'S SURGEON ILL

AUCKLAND, July 9. Shortly after the Niagara left Vancouver, the- ship's surgeon, Dr. A. N. Bcattie, became seriou6ly ill with bronchitis. At Honolulu he was taken ashore and put in hospital, his place on board being taken by Dr. Thomas McVeaghj a practising surgeon of Honolulu. It is expected that Dr. Beattie will be well enough to rejoin the Niagara when she next calls at Honolulu on. August 3.
