THE WAIRARAPA MATCH
A CHANGE OF DATE
To meet the wishes of the Wairarapa Union, the management committee of the Wellington Rugby Union agreed last night to alter the date oE the WellingtonWairarapa match nt Masterton to July 18. The chairman (Mr. J. Prendeville) explained that he had been approached by Sir. E. McKeuzie, of, the Wairarapa Union, who had said that the change would mean much to his union, as it would enable five New Zealand representatives to be included in the Wellington team and thereby add to the drawing power o£ the fixture. The point to be considered was whether it would be advisable to include the All, Blacks in the team, as they would not be available for Wellington's regular representative team this season, including that for the southern tour. The Wairarapa game would provide the sole selector (Mr. M. F. Nicholls) with his only opportunity of giving the players a" chance to play together. Mr. A. J. Griffiths pointed out that the only point regarding the change was that it would . help' Wairarapa. So far as Wellington was concerned it would, if anything, be a drawback. ' The committee unanimously approved of the change. Protests were received from two clubs regarding the alleged inclusion o£ ineligible players in lower grade teams. It was decided to call the attention of clubs to the regulations regarding the age-limit grades. Permission was given for the playing of the following matches:—Land and Income Tax Dept. v. State Advances Dept., at Kelbnrn Park on July IS; Pensions Dept. v. Health Dept., at Kelburn Park on July 25; Groydon School v. Hereworth School, Haveloek North, on July 28; Victoria University.
