MOTHERS' UNION

MEETING #T EASTBOURNE

The Eastbourne branch of' ' tho Mothers' Union transferred it usual monthly meeting from Day's Bay to Konaßay for the purpose of holding the quarterly corporate communion service and a '*day of renewal" in St. Alban's1 Church, There was a gogd attendance | considering .the wea.ther and the amount of sickness'in the bay. ■ -. '■

The Vicar conducted both services,! and in the'morning gave an address on; "The Holy Family." Later all went to luncheon in the Parish Hall, where the leader of the branch, Mrs. Herzog, and the Vicar presided over tho tables. Afterwards community singing was indulged in until it was time to go back to. church for the renewal service, when the Vicar spoke on "The Mothers' 'Union.:-'ana What it Means to the Family." After the service, tea and a chat brought a happy and instructive dav.VtO'an end. .-•■■•

CHILDREN'S PARTY.

~A;.'pipst enjoyable; and successful children's plain and'fancy' dress party "was"held in thes."''Parish Hall, : Eastbourne, in aid of the organ fund, which will benefit considerably as the result.

Games, a "grand march," and afternoon tea kept the children Iwell occupied, and dancing by some .pupils of Miss Dudleigh Carstens. was much enjoyed... Those who took part were June Frazer, Mary Morgan, Pauline Webb, Barbara Gilkison, Billie Moore, Jean Gerard, and three little ones,- Julfe Mchiinri,. Margaret O'Connor, and Margaret Bowley. ■:

The judges, Mrs. Wise- (Mayoress) and Miss Lawson, had a very hard task in selecting the winners, and the following were successful:—"AViiiter," Joyce Riekards; "Old English,".' Mary Morgan; "Bag Wash," Dinali McAndrew; "Drummer Boy," Rosemary Pagan"; "Air Mail," Margaret Hoyles; "John Bull," Hazel Black";'. "Chinese Maiden," Frances Campbell; "Night," Naida Goddard; "Father' Christmas," Jack Sineeton; "Indian Maid," little Miss Budd; "Ballet Girl," Barbara McMinn. The tiny ones were: "Croicus," Priscilla Fagan; "Weet Bix," Barbara Jai-yis;: "Bunny," Noel Hanton; "Little^Bpy Blue," Clive Berry; "Bed Clown,'" Patsy Matthews; and "Kate Gre&iaway," Sally Ayson.'* A special prize was given by Mrs. Wise to .Toan Maisd^n, as_a New Zealand Army Nurse.
