Far-reaching improvements in-Aus-tralia's defences are likely to result from the decision of the Commonwealth Government substantially to increase the .vote for the 'Defence Department. It is believed,that the Government will apply £4,000,000 to.the development of a comprehensive plan covering all defence 'activities. ' ' -■ ,
