England's cricket selectors have chosen thirteen players in view of the second Test ' with Australia, to be played at Lord's commencing on Friday. The final eleven will be selected on the morning of" the m'ateh. K. E. S. Wyatt, who was unable to play in. the first Test, has again been selected as captain. Of those who played in the first Test, the Nawab of Pataudi and Mitchell arc not included in the selection for the second Test. The players chosen are:— E, E. S. Wyatt (Warwickshire), captain. C. F. Walters (Worcestershire) H. Sutcliffe- (Yorkshire). W. E. Hammond (Gloucestershire). M. Leylaua (Yorkshire). C. J. Barnett (Gloucestershire). E. Hcndren (Middlesex). L. E. G. Ames (Kent). M. S. Nichols (Essex). G. Geary (Leicestershire). 11. Verity (Yorkshire). K. Fames (Essex). W. E. Bowes (Yorkshire).

The complete selection was delayed owing to some players being in doubt as to whether they would be fit and also on account of a change in the weather.

"Bad luck and misfortune which are almost heartbreaking are .at present dogging us, but I am sure it will come out all right," said Sir Stanley Jackson, chairman of tho English selection committee. "I think we shall win the rubber. There are plenty of good players in England." Sir Stanley mentioned that Wyatt was not one of the three players about whom there was a doubt as to their fitness. Ho added: "It is regrettable that Larwood is not available. His decision today was in reply to a telegram I sent." After a meeting of some of the principal Notts committeemen as the outcome of Larwood's Statement, tho secretary, Mr. Brown, stated: "Wo have not taken a step of any kind." "Tho fact that two members of Cabinet have disclaimed interference in the cricket controversy will cause alarm regarding the future of cricket," says "The Sketch" in a leader.

"Apparently there are fanatics in England equally as foolish as any in Axistralia. If cricket is capable of causing discord it should bo made illegal." :
