WEDDING

ATKINSON—THOBP.

An interesting wedding took place at St. Thomas's Church, at Motueka, recently, when Ethel Mary, elder daughter of Mrs. Thorp and the late Mr. Frederick Thorp, Motueka, was married to John Dunstan, second son of Mrs. Atkinson and the late Captain Arnold Atkinson, of Wellington. The church was artistically decorated with chrysanthemums and autumn leaves. The Eev. Canon Grossman officiated, and Miss Natalie Grossman presided at the" organ. ■ The bride, wearing a simple frock of parchment satin, with a beautiful point lace veil, caught at the back with real orange blossom and carrying a bouquet of white chrysanthemums and autumn leaves, entered the church escorted by her mother, Mrs. Thorp, who carried a bouquet of green and autumn foliage, and wore a black lace frock and black hat, both relieved with touches of green and green shoes. The bridesmaids were Miss Helen Thorp, sister of the bride, and Miss Elizabeth Atkinson, sister of the bridegroom, both attired in deep cream georgette over crepe de chine, with old gold shoulder bows, belts, and shoes, and carrying bouquets of chrysanmtheinums and autumn leaves. Miss Elizabeth Deck was the flower girl and Master Eobert Thorp page. Both were dressed in parchment satin of the same shade as the bride's gown. Mr. William Hursthouse, of Wellington, cousin of the bridegroom, fulfilled the duties of best man, and Mr. Geoffrey Taylor acted as groomsman. When the wedding party left the ehurcli the footpath was lined with Girl Guides and Brownies, and an archway of patrol flags was formed at the gateway.

A reception -was ' held in a large marquee erected on the lawn at "Burton," the residence of the bride's mother. . Mr. Charles W. Thorp acted as toastmaster. The bridegroom's mother, Mrs. Arnold Atkinson, wore an ensemble of navy blue silk, with hat to tone, her bouquet being of deep red chrysanthemums and autumn leaves. The bride's going-away dress was an ensemble of brown necked tweed with hat and shoes to match.
