SHOUTS AT AUDIENCE
COVENT GARDEN AFFAIR
LONDON, May 7.
An unprecedented incident marked the opening of the opera season at Covent Garden Theatre, according to Mr. Gordon Beetles, critic of the "Daily Express." Sir Thomas Beccham, who was conducting, annoyed at chattering during the overture to "Fidelio," faced the fashionable audience and shouted: "Stop talking!V Later, when the people in the gallery were applauding Lotte Lehmann, during tho music linking the first and second scenes of act two, Sir Thomas again turned round and shouted: "Shut up, you!" »
