THE DISTANCE COVERED
MCGRATH'S EXPERIMENT
LONDON, May S. Mr. Stanley N. Doust, writing in the '^Daily Mail," says that for the first time in history'a pedometer was used at the Bournemouth tennis tourney to ascertain - the distance covered by a player during a match.
After search for a player willing to "wear" the pedometer, McGrath (Australia) agreed and placed the pedometer in one of his trouser pockets. McGrath visited the offices immediately after the match, as the enthusiasts were anxious to discover tho disr tauce covered. The- pedometer registered only 900 yards, the works having failed. The experiment is to be tried again.
McGrath stated that, apart from hearing the_ ticking in the first set, he forgot the instrument's presence.
