ESPERANTO CLUB

_The weekly meeting of the' Wellington Esperanto Club was held last'night in the 1.A1.0.A. Mr. Vernon Leek presided over a good attendance. Tuition classes occupied the early, portion of- the .evening. Ine second portion of the evening consisted^ of a special programme . arranged by Miss Dofeen G. Carty,- the club lecretary./The opening item was a lecturette m Esperanto on New Zealand birds by Mr. E. C. Jack, the speaker producing coloured illustrations. Miss •■ E. Duguid presented pianoforte, numbers^ playing selections from Sigismond Stojowski and Leo Livens. An entertaining reading in Esperanto" was delivered :by Mr. A. Phillips, "La Rego Parblas." Mr. William H. King/secretary of the NewZealand Esperanto Association, gave a» interesting talk in Esperanto oh "La. Utilo de la Verda Stelo." The concluding item was an original half-hour oneact comedy played in Esperanto, entitled La Filmdirektoro." - -Miss Marie Leek appeared in the role of the"office assistant; Mr. Bertram Potts as the casting director; and Mr. Vernon Leckin a series of quick changes as the comedian, the parson, the shorthand-typist, and'the old man—roles which- were capably presented.
