FLOATING IN HARBOUR
MAN'S BODY RECOVERED
Ihe body of a man between 45 and 50 years ol age was found floating in the harbour near tho boat sheds' at Evans Bay at about 9 o clock this morning. The body which had not been identified at the time of going to press, had apparently been in the water.overnight. The man was-sft 6in m height, well built, and clean shaven. He had natural teeth, with one gold tooth on the left-hand side of the lower jaw He was wearing a grey woollen cardigan brown trousers and waistcoat, blue shirt white woollen underpants, grey flannel singlet, white collar, and tan shoes An inquest will be held.
A painter's blow-lamp caused a small fire -in a large apartment house, occupied by the Women's Christian Temperance Union, in Brougham Street at about 9.45 a.m. today. The Central pro Brigade was called out, but a bucket or two of water was sufficient to suppress the outbreak. Slight damage | was done to two or three weatherboards i«n the aorth-west comer of the house.
