THE PERFECT PEDESTRIAN

(To the Editor.)

Sir, —I think the police officer who suggested to a "Post" reporter' on Saturday that all cyclists should be compelled by law to w.ear a red reflector on the heel of each boot, after the manner of a spur should be.highly commended, and I would sttgges't that'the reflectors be added to the one already worn on the rear mudguard. Then the cyclists would be able to ride in the middle of.the road, or at least on ,the right side- of the 'road, with perfect safety. Now, in reference to pedestrians, he does not go far enough) in my opinion. They need more protection than a red reflector attached to the heel of each boot. What I would suggest is that the reflectors be worn on the calf of each leg, and in addition the pedestrian should have a small head lamp something after the style of'the lamp worn by miners underground. This would bo in no way inconvenient, and with fore and rear bumpers the ordinary or average person should feel quite safe from the notorious road hog. —I am, etc.,

SAFETY FIRST.
