SYNOPSIS OF LAST ,48 HOURS: During tho weekend the meteorological situation was controlled chiefly by an anticyclone which covered the Tasman-Sea and most of the Dominion, and the weather was fine and pleasant generally, with light variable winds prevailing. A slight/, depression, however, passed to the southwards during Saturday and a rather intense .one of the westerly type is now moving, on ;to tho South Island. The former was accompanied by a few showers in tho Foveaux Strait area and since last night the latter has accounted for showers in Westland and the far south, and also for freshening northerly winds about and south of Cook, Strait. ' Temperatures havo been mild. ' • ■ - : . . •
