RIFLE SHOOTING

PETONE CLUB

The Petorie Rifle Club members took' advantage of the fine weather on Saturday arid fired a match counting for the club short range handicap.and the Longfield handicap series at- Trentham, ranges 500- yards and 000 yards. There was a fair attendance, and for the most part the shooting at the 500 yards distance was good; but at the longer range a light rear wind caused many disappointments. At the 500-yard range li. Ballinger finished with an "inner" for 48 out o£ the possible 50, and was top scorer, followed by T. Chapman and T. McNab (46 each), and W. J\ llclver (45). At 600 yards, H. Nickless, with a, good 45 off the gun, equalled the standard, the next highest scorer being T. Warburton with 43. The highest aggregates off the gun for the day were secured by B. Ballinger (00), W. J. Mclver (87), T. Warburton (80), and T. Chapman (86).
