"CHARM" LECTURES
BUSINESS GIRLS' LYCEUM
CARE OF SKIN AND HAIR
The third of a series of lectures making up a "Charm Course" was given at a meeting of the Business Girls'.'Lyceum held at the Y.W.C.A. The subject chosenwus: "Care of the Skin-and Hair," and the speakers were Misses Gilmour, Sadlier, and Greenop.
, "To have beautiful hair," said Miss Gilmour in opening the subject, "the first thing is cleanliness, and to".accomplish this use a good Castile soap, which is more beneficial to the hair than anything else. Make a good lather, and massage the scalp with the finger tips, working in a circular movement. This is/most important because it stimulates the blood in the head and helps the cells to function properly. Always work upwards, and that brings the blood up to the top of the head and makes the hair glossy. ■ ' •
"To get rid of dandruff the simplest thing is olive oil. Don't rub it into the -hair; that will do no good-at all. If you keep the scalp healthy the hair will look after. itself. This should be clone before the hair is washed. Once a fortnight is quite sufficient to shampoo. It is important to brush the hair regularly. This makes it glossy, and prevents baldness."
Directions were given for face massage, with hot water first, followed by massage with a good cold cream with no perfume. "Ahvays use an upward movement," said 'the ■ speaker. --"The strained jvhite of an egg patted on. the face with a piece of cotton wool should follow., Leave this half an hour, wash off, use more cold cream, then finish up with cold water wash."
