EIGHTH ANNIVERSARY
BYRD'S NORTH POLE FLIGHT
HOLIDAY AT LITTLE AMERICA
MONTREAL, May 10.
A message from Little America states that members of the Byrd expedition today declared a holiday in commemoration of the eighth .anniversary of Admiral Byrd's North Pole flight. Although Byrd is now isolated 123 miles to the south, ho participated in the ceremonies by radio communication. .
After breakfast the mess hall was cleared, a microphone was set up, and with Dr. Charles Morgan, the expedition'a gcophysicist, at tho wheezy, collapsible organ, tho men sang "Anchors A-Weigh," the song of Byrd's school at the American Naval Academy at Annapolis, and other favourites. Then each man passed beforo the microphono, gave his name, and voiced greetings to Byrd.
There wcro present three members of tho "Seventy-eight," who aeeompanied Byrd to that parallel north and south —Mr. W. Haincs; second in command; Commander J. Novillc; and Mr. E. J. Dcnias, who is in charge of the tractors.
