USE OF ELECTRICITY
(To the Editor.)
—I road with great interest in "The Post" a scheme to popularise the use of electricity for domestic purposes, which was adopted by the Hutt Valley Electric Power Board. The No. 1 section of this scheme is so attractive that I would ask your permission to quote it. It says: "Under the No. 1 section consumers may have installed in their homes upon payment of nominal . charge a modern electric range. All units registered through a repayment meter will be charged for at a flat rate per unit. The range under this scheme remains the property of the board." I venture to say that if a similar scheme was adopted by the Wellington City Council iit would bo taken advantage of by hundreds of householders in the city ' and suburbs as hitherto the initial cost of an electric range even if paid on the instalment plan has made it prohibitive to would-be users. I hope that now the Hutt Board has'given a lead our City Council will Tiring into operation a similar scheme. —I am, etc., -: 4' ■- ' PROGRESS.
