DISTRIBUTION OF BOOTS
(To the Editor.)
Sir, —"Pleased as Punch" is the way to express my feelings after reading tho report in last night's "Post" stating that the Unemployment Board contemplates issuing another pair of working boots to the unemployed this winter.
It will be welcome news to quite a lot of men. But is it working boots the unemployed aro .most in need of? In all sincerity, if they, arc considered properly they will bo given their choice of a pair of working boots or a pair of walking shoes. Quito a lot of the unemployed have got boots and shoes perhaps good enough to work in but not good enough for walking. I find it pretty hard trying to walk along the footpath, and needless to say I make moro noise than a draught horse. I hope tho Unemployment Board will consider this suggestion.—l am, etc.,
WALKING SHOES.
