WAIRARAPA LAKE FLOOD .. j , ■

A ROAD BLOCKAGE

(By Teteflraph) (Special to the. "Evening Post.") MASTEBTON, This Day. All danger of floods in tho Wairarapa Lake region is now past, tho outlet of the lako having been opened yesterday. Settlers around tho lako are greatly relieved, as the water in tho lake was at a high level, being within 18in or 2ft of tho record flood level of September, 1932. ■ .

While men wcro engaged:in' opening the outlet the/lako broke:• through -a little further away. Tho two channels later joined up, providing an excellent getaway for the banked-up. waters." . Last evening tho discoloured waters of the lako were visible for about a mile off shore.

Tho Capo Pallisor Boad has boon almost obliterated at a rocky cutting which received tho full blast of tho southerly storm. All that remains of the road at this locality for somo distance is a track about a .foot wide. 'Tho road will probably bo closed for, many mouths. "• ■
