CHATHAM CUP

LOCAL ENTRANTS

The question of the local Chatham Cup matches is giving the fixtures committee of the Wellington Football Association some little difficulty as to thedate of the playing of'the"first round, but the problem should be eased by the probable entry of only . the first four leading teams in the first A division, Petone, Hospital, Waterside, and Marist. Should the New Zealand Council agree to the suggestion that the matches be run in conjunction with, the championship games the problem of extra Saturdays being required will be solved. This could easily be agreed to, as in the event of a draw the extra time only would count for the Cup match. The King's Birthday is the usual date set aside for the first round of Chatham Cup games, but this year it will be taken up with representative fixtures, and the Cup matches will start a week or two later.'
