JUNIOR PACKS

INCREASING ACTIVITY

SELECTION OF TEAMS

By VTrall-layer."

The junioj- section of harriers is gaining popularity in Wellington. More clubs are realising the advantage of properly equipping the younger members for the vacancies in the teams as the older members retire from competitive running. The Olympic Club's colts have developed into quite a strong pack, and require more holding tack' at times. W. Scatchard has taken over the training of the boys, and he can be depended upon to keep them up to the mark. The latest addition to the junior section is the Scottish Club's pack. There are five promising lads at present in action, while, those in charge of the pack have hopes of increasing that number. The Presbyterian colts are hardened harriers by now, arid under the leadership of J. Edgar are a progressive team.

There is evidence of a very keen junior section in Timaru. 'This season there is to be a junior cross-country championship over a five-mile course. As there arc'a great many juniors in that district, ;the raco is being looked forward to with interest.
