LAMB DEMAND GOOD

The Bank of New Zealand. Produce Department, has received the following advice from its London office as at close of business this week:— "The market for wethers is dull with a downward tendency There is a fair demand, for ewes. The demand for lambs is good and prices are nrm. The demand for beef is steady with a better outlook. Trade generally is brighter, with a better demand. Wethers light 4.3-8d;t0.5%d per lb, heavy 3%d to 4 1-Sd; ewes, 2%d to 4 l-8d; lambs, 2's 7 l-8d to 7 3-Bd, B's 6%d to 6%d, 4's G l-8d to G 3-Bd, seconds 6%d to 7Ytd; ox hind* 3 1-Sd to 3 3-Bd, fores 2 l-8d to 2 3-Sd ' Levin and Co., Ltd., have received the tollowing cable from their London a"ent<= Way ,11:—North Island frozen meat quotations: Down lambs, 28-3Glb 7%d per^lb. 3G-421b 6 7-8 d; crossbred lambs, 28-3Glb 7 3-Bd, 3G-421b G%d; second quality lamb* average 30-311b, 7d; wethers, under 481b 5%d, 48-sGlb 5 l-Bd, 56-641b 4%d, 64-721b 4%d; ewes, under 481b 4d, 4S-561b 3V»<\ 56-641b VAd, 64,721b 2 7-8(1; New Zealand prime ox beef, IGO-2201b, 2%d. Compared with last week's quotations, 'lamb all grades l-8d per lb higher with the exception of down lamb, 28-3611), which is unchanged. Wethers, 48-sGlb l-8d per lb lower, ewes under 481b and 64-721b l-8d per lb lower. The lamb market is firm. Mutton market quiet.
