INCREASED PRESSURE
JAPANESE IMPORTS

Officials consider that one result of the British policy regarding Japanese export's will be to increase the pressure of Japanese imports on the Australian market. The balance of AustralianJapanese trade has for many years been in favour of Australia. It is considered likely that the British. Government will formally ask the Dominions to impose restrictions against Japan, similar to those proposed in ths colonies. Alternatively, Britain may seek concessions which, could only, be given at the expense of Japan's trade with Australia.
