ROAD CYCLING
PONEKE CLUB'S FIRST RACE
The official opening of the Poneke Amateur Cycling Club's road racing season takes place at Kilbirnie tomorrow afternoon. ;
The first'competitor is to be started at 2.30 by the patron of the club (Mr. West). The race will be over a distance of 10% miles, for the cup presented by Mrs. Hughes for annual competition. Owing to unfavourable weather, the race was postponed last Saturday.
The course will be one !ap of the Breaker Bay cutting route, starting from Salek Street, through Kongotai, Kingsford Smith Street, Moa Point, Breaker Bay. Seatoun, to Point Halswell, and finishing at^ the Miramar Wharf straight. , ■The handicaps declared are as follows:— C. Ericsson. F. Blackctt, W. Lasky, scr; W. Mitchell, H. Houston, P. Percival, J.
