SHORTS CONTROVERSY

The "shorts for women lawn tennis players" controversy has now reached tho Riviera. Tho controversy reached its climax recently when a prominent woman player appeared on the courts at Nice in a pair of dsu-k blue shorts, which were- so tight that they closely resembled a pair, of bathing trunks. The player concerned was called before tho committee and told that in future, if'sho wanted to wear shorts when playing on their courts, they must invariably bo white- and loosefitting. At least one Riviera club has banned shorts.
