MAGISTRATE'S COURT

Cases in the Magistrate's Court today were dealt with by Mr. W. F. Stilwell, S.M.

A remand until April 20 was granted in the case of Lionel John Lynch, aged 19, a message boy, who was arrested this morning on a charge of obtaining from W. S. Wallace a moving-picture camera and five rolls of film, valued at £32, by a false pretence. Arthur Wong, aged 23, a gardener, was remanded until April 20 on a charge of obtaining from H. Baldwin and Co., Ltd., 30 sacks of potatoes valued at £16 6s 3d by a false pretence.

Bail in the sum of £100 and one surety of a like amount was granted to George Alexander Low, aged 30, a canvasser, who was also remanded to April 20, on a charge of stealing three gold rings, valued at £30, the property of G. L. Stedman.

John William Tucker, aged 44, a dairy fanner, was fined 5s for drunkenness and £1, in default seven days' imprisonment, for using obscene language in Dixon Street. .

Pleading guilty to assaulting A. B. Read and to behaving in a disorderly manner in the De Luxe Theatre, Gordon Henry McKenzie, aged 29, a painter, was fined £2, in default fourteen days' imprisonment, on the former charge, and £1, in default seven days' imprisonment, on the latf«f:r. Seni.or-Sergeant J. Dempsey said that the charge was'the outcome of a disturbance created by McKenzie and two companions, all of whom were intoxicated, at the De Luxe Theatre last night.

A child, Patricia Thompson, of 79 Abel Smith Street, was knocked down by a bicycle at the corner of Cuba and Abel Smith Streets at about 3.40 p.m. yesterday. She was taken to the hospital by the Free Ambulance, suffering from a wound to her right leg, and shock.
