BEEF INCREASES DOUBLED

For this year's period shipments were all to the United Kingdom, excepting two carcasses of lamb for San Francisco and two for New York; 14 lambs for Canada; 500 for Singapore, and 300 for Hong Kong; also 336 quarters of frozen beef for Canada, and 48 quarters and 50 carcasses of lamb and mutton for Pacific Islands.
Levin and Co., Ltd., have received the following cable from their London agents, dated April 13:—North Island meat quotations: Down lambs, 28/361b, TVad per lb; 30/421b, 7d; crossbred lambs, 28/361b, 7Ud; 3(i/421b, 7d; second quality lambs, 30/311b, 7d; wethers, 481b, sVkl; 48/501b, 0 1-Scl; 56/C4lb, 4 »-8d; 84/721b, 4%d; ewes, under 481b, 4d; 48/o(jlb, 3 5-8 d; SG/041b, 3'4d; 64/721b,. 3d; New Zealand prime ox beef, 160/2201b, 2 5-Bd. Compared with last !week's quotations, Down lamb 28/361b l-8d per lb lower; 36/421b, Vtd per lb'lower; crossbred lamb, 28/361b, %d per lb lower; 30/421b, l-Sd per lb lower; second quality [lamb, 1-8(1 per lb lower; wethers, SG/7211), l-8d per lb lower; ewes, under C4lb, l-8d per lb lower. The market on the spot is weaker all round, mainly duo to poor demand and reselling. •
