SYNOD MOTION PASSED

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) t HASTINGS, April 13.

The motion for the adoption of a form of the Bible more in keeping with the best of modern book production was ■ carried by the General Synod of the Anglican Church during its session at Napier this afternoon. The motion was moved by Archdeacon G. 11. Gavin. An amendment by Canon Percival James to the effect that an investigation bo made into what modern versions of the Bible are in existence. and\ that these, be referred to those people who desired the modern version, was lost.

Other motions carried during the proceedings were as follows: "That the Synod respectfully request the Primate to appoint a. commission to confer with other religious bodies and with the Radio Broadcasting Board regarding the broadcasting of church services" (moved by Canon Percival James); "that a committee be appointed to consider the desirability of renewing the publication of sermons for lay readers, and to report" (moved by Canon Nield).
