BILLIARDS
DAVIS AND LINDRUM
WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
LONDON", April 7.
Davis denies a Melbourne Press cable stating that ho is going to. Australia on May 5 to play in the world billiards championship.
He states that ho has not made definite arrangemenrts to go to Australia. He is still uncertain whothev he is going at all, as ho has still not obtained any concrete or tangible guarantees or a suggested programme, hence the whole project, is still in the air. "Lindrum says ho feels sure wo will do well, but this is not definite enough to warrant incurring an expensive overseas trip," he said. "I cabled Lindrum several times. His replies never answer my questions. Ido not feel like spending more money on. cables. I do not know what course of action to take."
Tho "Evening Standard" says^ that despite tho assistance of Mr. E. Lintori, Agent-General for Victoria iiv London, and his cables to the Premier of Victoria, it looks, ; as though the world championship, if it is ever played at all, will simply bo between Lindrum and Me Con achy. . Davis retained tho professional snooker championship, defeating Newman by 24 games to 21.
