HEAD-ON COLLISION

MOTOR-CYCLISTS INJURED

Swerving to avoid a stray horse,- a motor-cyclist collided head on with another motor-cyclist at Makikihi on Saturday evening. Thomas Stoddart, aged 27, sustained a broken log and severe body injuries, and John Bathgen, aged 22, of Waimatc, received severe head injuries, a broken wrist, and a broken leg. Stoddart, a motor-cycle salesman, of Timaru, was transporting a cycle in a special sidecar attached to his machine. Eat-hgcu's machine struck Stoddart's between the engine and tho sidecar. Both are in hospital in a critical condition, but there is an improvement today.
