BETTERMENT PROPOSALS

Proposals for the strengthening of tho Wellington Amateur Athletic Club, the oldest in tho province, were submitted by Mr. A. Hose to a meeting of the club's executive this week. The importance was stressed of enlarging tho membershipl and of members .showing aii increasing spirit of co-operatum and keen enthusiasm. It was also suggested that tho timo had arrived for some of the duties now performed by the president (Mr. A; C. Kitto) to bo taken over at least,, in part, by some of the members and so grant a measure of well-deserved relief .to the president. Other suggestions were directed to achieving closer co-operation among the members, and the question was raised as to whether or not it would be advisable to change the venue of the training ground from Athletic Park to the Basin Eeserve. It was decided to call a general meeting of tho club for April 26 to discuss the various proposals thoroughly. CUP WINNERS. Taucred Cup (hurdle events). —J. McDonald,. 12 points, 1; W. Gilchrist, 6 points, 2; P. McDonald, 1 pointy 3. Tripp Cup (distance events). —C. Gibbons, 2 points, 1; A. Mackay, 1 point, 2. Oates Cup (cycling).—L. Roberts. " D. J. Nathan Cup (field events).—T. Crowe, 85 points, 1; P. Munro, 55 points, 2; L. Sehneideman, 2S points, 3. In the ladies' section Miss E. Sharp won the Peat Pendant for most points in all events, and Miss D. Hurley the Parsons Rose Bowl for field events.
