(By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, .This Day. The Southern Cross, piloted by Sir Charles Kingsf ord Smith, left, the Mangere aerodrome at 12.30 p.m. today for ! the Ninety Mile Beach. The monoplane is to leave for.Sydney at 2.30 a.m. # tomorrow. The weather today has improved, and Sir Charles has received a favourable report, from Dr. Kidson, Government Meteprologist. The monoplane, on leaving Auckland, took some hundreds of letters which were posted late.'. The bulk of the: air mail has been forwarded over land. It is intended to place the machine on. planking above high water mark on the beach, and to remove it on to the hard sand late tonight. ' It is hoped to" reach Sydney late :t»morrow afternoon.-,-: : .
