WOMAN INJURED
CHASE AFTER MOTORIST
ALLEGED INTOXICATION
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) :- AUCKLAND, This Day. . In the Police Court this morning John Spencer, aged' 37, an insurance agent, was charge^ with being in a state of intoxication while in charge of a car. The police said that at 8.40 last evening Spencer drove . across an intersection in Kaiangahap'e Road at a speed' estimated between 40 and 45 miles an hour, knocked down Miss Isobcl Jack, . aged 21, and speeded away, followed by ' two motor-cyclists. He stopped, but again speeded up, doubled back, and later was arrested on the Great North Road. The young woman received serious head injuries and was operated on this morning. The accused was remanded for a week. ■'....
