(By Telegraph—Press Association.) - « PAHIATUA,' This Day: A large public meeting this morninjp appointed a deputation to the Hon. E. A. Ransom to stress the need of Government assistance for property owners who suffered loss-through the earthquake. A local business house which was a considerable sufferer has received a request from an Auckland firm for the prompt payment of an account! for a few shillings for goods supplied just over a fortnight ago. By the same mail at least. a dozen letters were received from other merchants expressing sympathy for the firm's severe losses, and offering to render assistance i. called upo». . .'■■"■"'.- >
