MELBOURNE AIR RACE
FINANCE THE PROBLEM
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, March 10. Sir Charles and Lady Kingsford Smith arrived by the Monterey today from Sydney. In Sydney, Sir Charles witnessed trials of' the new all-Australian aeroplane, tho Codock. They were entirely satisfactory. Tho new machine is the first complete aeroplane to be built in Australia, practically everything, with the exception of the engines having been made in the country. Sir Charles has been appointed to the board of directors of Dominion Airways Limited, which is being formed to establish daily both-way air services between Auckland and Dunedin for passengers and mails, and other air lines between various centres. Asked to comment on his plans for tho England-Melbourne air race, Sir Charles said that he was doing everything in his power to bo able to take part. So far, however, he had not the necessary finance. If there was any chance of getting it, he would look forward to participating in the great race. '
