EPIGRAM WINS WELL
A THOMPSON POSSIBILITY
After his good showing following a short let-up on the first day, Epigram was seized by investors as .a really good thing for the Glengarry Handicap, and so the result proved him to be. He was allowed to go along at his will behind the other pair for a couple of furlongs, but he was then sent up to Souchong, whom he left at the straight entrance. Good Hunting, with a pull of nearly a stone in. the weights, threw out a challenge over the last furlong and a half, but the younger horse very'easily held him at bay by a couple of lengths. Epigram is one of the three three-year-olds remaining in next Friday^ Thompson Handicap, and with 121b below weight-for-age he must be considered to hold very fair prospects of succeeding, for, on his record he is an even better miler th'aii sprinter. He will be ridden in the race, by his Saturday's pilot, W." J. Broughton, who is riding in excellent form at" present. Epigram's victory on Saturday was Brougliton's third of four wins in succession, two of them (including Epigram) being on horses that K. Voitre, had ridden on the.opening day. , ' ■
