AUSTRALIAN WINES
. * MARKETING IN AMERICA NEW YORK, March 5. The confusion existing in the liquor situation in the United States, particularly that relating to the Australian position, is resulting in considerable difficulty and embarrassment to the Commonwealth Office here. It is learned that the American market problem, which, from tho Australian point of view until now was considered to be chiefly one of quota, is really much more than that and may prove a matter of successfully marketing products here. While it is known that some leading i figures among Australian wine pro- ■ ducers are giving careful and enter- 1 prising attention to the American mar- ■ ket, the greater number of Australian ' growers have as yet far from satisfactory connections in America, and it is believed that the sale of Australian i wines must ultimately be handled in < a unified and comprehensive fashion.
