HEAVY DEATH TOLL
*- EPIDEMICS IN INDIA SEASONAL OUTBREAKS (Received March 7, 1 p.m.) ■ CALCUTTA, March 6. ■ The present is the season of epidemics in India.' Plague is claiming ,a heavy toll, especially in the United Provinces, where, according^to official statistics, there were 2000 deaths in February, 1210 dying in one week. It is feared that this week the toll will be much heavier. Twenty of the smaller towns are affected and many people are fleeing panic-stricken into tho country. Courts and schools are closed. Thousands are being inoculated. Lust week 379 perished of cholera and 148 of smallpox in' Bengal. Cercbro-spinal meningitis is rampant in the Bombay Presidency, eighty dvinein a few days. b
