PUBLIC SCHOOLS TENNIS
There was a large attendance of teachers from the Wellington''district at the annual meeting recently o£ the Wellington Pub-, lie Schools' Lawn Tennis Association, Mr. B. Kean presiding.' • . ■'. The annual report stated that at the previous annual 'meeting the district had been.divided- into, four,zones, and a series of inter-schools matches were played,between the girls' teams of the various zones. Each zone also ran a tournament, giving an opportunity foi- the best boys and girls of the various'schools to meet under match conditions. -A'-final .'tournament on the Wellington. Club's . courts produced , some excellent gariies'.and was marked by play of a high standard, auguring well for ; the future of, the game. The association appreciates the assistance given by some clubs which ■ have given free membership to promising - children, ; and- is willing to co-operate- in this direction at all times. The Wellington-Lawu-Tennis Association . and the Press are/also, thanked for the : assistance they have given. ■ ■'.■ The following officers' were elected:— ; President, Mr. T. Kane; .secretary, Mr. , Bryant;' treasurer,: Miss Hiddleston;.dele- - gates, Miss Swap and-Mr.'Mclvor (Hutt); .
