MARIST OLD BOYS

Speaking at the annual meeting of the Marist Old Boj.' Rugby Football Club, Mr. H. Bowman, the retiring president, referred to various matters in the report, extracts from which have been published in "The Post." It was sincerely hoped that the signs throughout the Dominion of an early return to normal times would be. realised and that all members would participate in more prosperous days during 1934. Arrangements had been made for the lease of the gymnasium for another year, 1935, thus relieving immediate anxiety in this direction. In referring to the performances of last season, Mr. Bowman said that the senior A team had experienced a difficult year, but had acquitted itself remarkably well under the

m-cumstauces.-He:: congratulated those players who had gained representative honours. More especially, he said, did the juniors deserve praise, as- the winning of these honours was; expected of senior players. In the senior" B 'division- he congratulated Mr. J. Hopkins for his excellent coaching of what was really far from good material.- The fifth grade team was praised for the gallant and sportsmanlike manner -in which it met persistent adversity, turning out each week with a full team to take almost invariable defeat. The following officers were elected:— Patron, hie Grace Archbishop .Redwood; president, Mr. H. Gumming; hon. secretary, Mr. J. F. Thurston; -hon. treasurer, Mr. M. Frost; club captain, Mr. O. Johnston; management committee, Messrs. Murphy, Butler, L. Mc'Greevy,. J. Thurston, Davis, O'Driscoll, and Robins; delegates to Wellington Rugby Union, Messrs. H. Bowman, 0. Johnston} H. dimming; delegates to New Zealand Marisit Brothers' Old Boys' Rugby Football Association, Messrs. C. Robins and J. Thurston: A motion was passed to the effect that the list of vice-presidents 1 c left as it was, with power to the incoming committee to delete or add.
