CRICKET FEAT
TINDILL'S THOUSAND
"When taking strike for Midland in the match on No. 2 wicket at the Basin Reserve on Saturday afternoon, E. W. Tindill required only 10 runs to. complete his 1000 for the season —a feat not very often accomplished in a season of senior cricket in this country: Tindill was not long in making double figures, but he was out soon afterwards for one of his smallest scores of a season in which he has shown Temarkable consistency. As set out in "The Post" on Saturday Tindill has made 424 runs in matches with the other .major provinces this season, and he heads the batting averages for first-class cricket. In other representative matches ho has made. 79 runs, and his total for club matches is 501, giving him a grand total of 1004, made at the fine averpge of 55.77. His scores for the season' are:—.Club matches, 55, 31, 74, 73, 81, 75, 98, and 14; representative matches, 30 and 38 not out (town v. country), S and 58 (v. Auckland), 106 and 56 (v. Canterbury), 31 and 8 (v. Otago), 11 (v. South Canterbury), and 102 and 55 (v. Canterbury).
